O thou enwrapped! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
