In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
