Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
