Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enwrapped! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
