Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
