The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Scorching the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
