The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
