The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and defilement flee! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
