The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
