The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
