The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
