The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 Pollution shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
