The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
