The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 Pollution shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
