The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
