The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
