The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
