The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
