The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
