The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
