The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
