The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your clothing purify 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
