The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then looked he, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
