The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
