The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
