The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
