The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
