NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
