I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 about the sinners. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
