Nay, by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
