Nay, by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
