Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
