NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 About the guilty: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
