By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
