Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humans, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
