I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
