NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
