Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
