Nay! By the moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 a warning to humans, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 in Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
