By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 From the guilty. 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
