Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 Warn the men. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
