No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 in Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
