Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
