By no means! By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 a warning to humans, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
