Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 From the guilty. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
