Nay, by the Moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
