By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 About the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
