Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
