Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
