Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
