The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
